Featuring some of Country and Western’s best performers, the 3-day Detroit Downtown Hoedown is one of the largest free country music festivals in the world featuring new and upcoming artists and many famous and well recognized ones as well entertaining several hundred thousand fans with the best in country music. A popular event for 30 years, the Detroit Downtown Hoedown is just one of the the top 10 annual events and festivals, fairs and celebrations in Detroit in Michigan showcasing more than 50 well known and very popular live performers.
Established in 1983 by a country music radio station, the Detroit Downtown Hoedown has become one of the largest free music festivals in the world. The 2010 festival, hosted by 99.5 WYCD radio, was held at Hart Plaza on May 14-16 and drew an estimated 1.3 million people. The festival is known for being a showcase for emerging artists. In its first year, the Hoedown featured performances by Hank Williams, Jr., Tanya Tucker and Mel Tillis. Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Toby Keith, Kid Rock and Rascal Flatts have also performance at the Downtown Hoedown.
