Midsummer Nights in Midtown -Detroit, Michigan
Detroit’s unrivaled international arts festival, replacing the Detroit Festival of the Arts, Midsummer Nights in Midtown is a popular and major arts event attracting over 10,000 people each year for the month long series of free cultural performances on every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening through June at a variety of cultural center venues.
MDI affiliate UCCA created a new arts event called Midsummer Nights in Midtown. This exciting arts event showcased over 20 performance groups over 12 nights throughout a wide variety of Midtown venues. Over 10,000 people visited midtown for these unique offerings, which culminated with a fantastic outdoor performance by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by aerial dancers Project Bandaloop.
Funding for Midsummer Nights was provided by The MASCO Foundation, Wayne State University, DTE Energy Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, the Castaing Family Foundation, Julie and Peter Cummings, and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
